Surfwiz
This project gathers information about DIY surfboard fabrication tools and techniques, in order to help make surfboard design and customization more approachable for beginners.
Possible outcomes:
- a user-focused parametric surfboard design tool
- a lower cost fabrication process assisted by digital fabrication techniques that uses environmentally friendly materials
- new customization options (like using embedded lights and sensors)

Tools
Materials
- EPS foam, traditional material, can be recycled
- Aerogel, possible alternative to foam core, incredibly expensive
- Mushroom Mycelium, 100% organic and biodegradable, but needs to be grown rather than shaped.
- Natural fiber cloth (hemp, sisal, flax), cheaper, lighter and more environmentally friendly than glass cloth.
- Cork
- Pine resin and beeswax as structural adhesive
- Bio-resins to replace traditional epoxy resins
